Montenegro never gets out of bed. It’s a well-known fact

plot twist: it’s actually the same solar time… just adjusted to local time.

I would love to see how this data was gathered. I don’t think this is true for Hungary. Schools nationwide and many office jobs start at 8:00.
Jcwrc on
These all seem like reasonable numbers. Unlike normal work schedule, when you’re expected to get up 6:00 to get in time for work.
SaphirRose on
I guess it would depend on the average working hours. Here in Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia) it’s 07-15 not 9-17.. Although i understand thats in Belgrade private sector 9-5 is common.
So people mostly wake up at 5:30-6..
Funnily enough it was changed in the 90s, and some people to this day still lament the old 6-14 working hours, and how much daylight and time they had when they came home.
Edit: Personally i quite love the 7-3, it’s a perfect balance. Also, 16-17 are culturally understood as ’nap-time‘ and it’s quite a taboo to call, visit or invite someone at that time.

Now correct for local solar time.
Spain in particular is famously in the wrong time zone.

Apparently something heavily skews these numbers upwards, which makes them quite meaningless without any other information.

Romania is wrong. Everything, from schools to jobs, start at 8AM. There is no way that’s the typical wake up time.

I am a Brazilian is this right? Since I was a kid I woke up at around six to get ready to go to school, take a shower (my mom would kill if I didn’t take one before even in winter). Now I woke up around 6:30-7am.

It seems unrealistically late. Most people won’t be at work at 9:00 AM if they wake up at 7:51 or even later

lol sure. in Switzerland most are already at work by 07:13 am. Hell, most kids have school starting at 07:30 from 7th grade onwards.

I don’t doubt the authenticity of this data, but upon careful analysis the data is heavily skewed towards solar time.
Examples:
1) Spain and France are in the same time zones but Spain wakes up later because it is further to the west which means that the sun rises later in the day.
2) Belarus and Ukraine are roughly on the same longitude, but Belarus is on the (UTC+2) time zone whereas Ukraine is on the (UTC+1) time zone, so Belarus should wake up „later“ than Ukraine, which they do.
MrArchivity on
Remember that this is average. For example I wake up at 4:00 in the morning for work.
So there is at least a dude waking up at 11:44 in my country.

Combined with the map I’ve seen here that shows Europeans having their evening meal by 6pm I really have to wonder wtf kind of schedule these people are living.
Helmer-Bryd on
Is this an average that includes weekends? If so, that would make more sense. Otherwise, these numbers seem a bit high to me, as most people tend to get up earlier than that on weekdays.

7:25 sounds terribly late for Germany. Most people already work at 8 am and most schools start around that time, too. By rule of thumb I’d say that it’s about 1 hour off.

7:25 in Germany? Can’t believe that. Most jobs start at 6 or 7, even school starts at 7:30.
Office Jobs start at 8, there is no way you make it into office waking up at 7:25.
Besides, the retirees wake up at 4 or 5 – and thats like a quarter of our population or so 😂😂😂

Czech Republic (in the provinces) is much earlier than this. Slovakia probably as well. Most people are up and about at ridiculous hours. Even the grandma in my apartment block goes and walks her dog around 4.30am. Most of the cars have gone as people arrive at work at 6am.
