This is something coming from the unionist community where leaders are used to telling them they are better than everyone else, and they are used to getting their own way all the time. They have been treating half the population like this for more than a century, if they got all of the immigrants out tomorrow they’d just turn back on Catholics and nationalists.

      Once you start intimidating people and burning them out of their homes, it’s not a protest anymore. It’s race hatred and no different to what these lads‘ grandfather’s would’ve been doing to innocent Catholics on the same streets 60 years ago.

      A lot of people will be looking for answers and solutions on migration, particularly from sub Saharan Africa. We’ll get those solutions and answers no doubt. Same goes for things on mental health (I don’t believe anyone in their right mind would carry out an attack like that).

      What’s not on is behaving like animals against innocent people. Many of them living in Ireland for decades, many of them women and children.

      They were some of the most shocking scenes I’ve ever seen. I’d never thought I’d see Belfast like that again in my lifetime.

      How exactly is this protecting the neighbourhood or its people? They’re targeting innocent people who likely live and abide by legal and societal rules. Meanwhile their spokesperson stoking the flames is in Russia hanging out with Errol Musk. The actual victim of all of this is still in hospital.

      Its amazing how far right hate is given a free pass. These are full on riots and pogroms, but the press calling them protests is part of the problem. The refusal to call a spade a spade is something else.

      Also, those who are inciting violence getting a free pass in the UK is nuts. People have been charged for much less in the UK, but again the far right is given a free pass. Kneecap got more shit then the likes of Musk and Tommy 10 names for a flag at a concert.

      They even announced an anti- immigration protest in Dublin this afternoon. Another protest against admitting therapy notes of rape victims in criminal trials had to be cancelled because of it. „Protecting our women and children“, yes, sure…

      In not totally unrelated news, working class loyalist men in the 6 counties have consistently been at the lower end of educational achievements and results in NI.

      Combine this with a culture of supremacy which is part of Unionism since its inception, and you end up with people very likely to do this.

      Remember the BNP and all that have always had ties to Loyalism.

      Does anyone know in what areas (Republican or Unionist)
      Are these riots happening, I’ve seen a lot of coverage that shows the union Jack predominantly displayed in the areas, so I’m guessing these protests are largely driven by Unionist/loyalists.

      I was literally just down the town centre of Lisburn and while a bunch of stuff was closed, plenty was still open.

      Protests there last night were apparently peaceful, so hopefully it’s just wee scrotes out blocking the roads again.

      The family released a statement today and made it VERY clear that they do not support anything beyond peaceful protests and they dont want people to use their tragedy to hurt others.
