From what I understand, very boring.
Source: went to university with someone from there (kind of).

I was on Røst working once. And asked some kids what they thought about living there. I’ll guess they were about 10 years old. And they really loved it, and didn’t want to move anywhere.
Well, that’s all I got to contribute with.

I live on Vardø for 3 years and you do have the ocean 360 degrees around you and Røst is the same

And when you think you’ve gotten as far out as you possibly can, there is an even further place out called Skomvær (lighthouse)!

Very nice, but quite isolated and need to be creative to find things to do. I have a person I know who grew up there, and he used to ride sheep just for fun😅. I’ve been there once, and the fishing industry is huge, so most fishermen there earn humongous amounts of money. Not much activities to do there tho. There’s one bar/place to hang out, a football field, but not much else

I knew a guy who lived there, born and raised. He shot himself.

Harsh weather, flat with mountains on islands you have to get to with boat, famous for fishing.
Police on the island two times a year. (The officer is stationed on the neighbouring island further north.) VERY safe though.
Get beer at the store, liqour you order in the mail.
Need more info?

It’s a tiny island that has tourism. What do you think? It’s on a major ferry line. Just windy and stormy as fuck.

I’ve never been there myself. But, in 2022 I was helping Ukrainian refugees in some ways, mostly translating and driving and stuff.
When refugees come to Norway, they will be sent anywhere in Norway, to a municipality that will take them. So there was a young Ukrainian mother with a 10 month old baby that was sent to Røst. She was going crazy there. She had absolutely nobody to talk to, not a one person that spoke Ukrainian or Russian, nobody for baby to play with, but also, absolutely nothing to do, no places to go and nowhere to drive (to meet anyone else). No bus and fairy was too expensive. I remember thinking that this was some kind of torture. I think 3 more Ukrainian people were sent to the same island later, and at some point we stopped receiving messages from her (asking for help).
I don’t know how it is now but I would not expect any of them still living there.. 🙈 It’s a breathtakingly beautiful place to visit, to go mountain climbing and take some Instagram pics. But then you go home..

Camped on Røst with my son and girlfriend one summer many years ago. Great place full of friendly and warm people.
Asked the owner of the local restaurant/hotel if there was a public area where I could set up my tent. He proceeded to point to the front yard / garden of the neighboring house and explained that if I needed to do any laundry that the residents were happy to let me use their machines.
Rented a boat to visit one of the outer islands and asked if I needed a license. The boat owner looked at me is awe as if I was as some special kind of stupid stating that I had nothing to worry about out here.
Truly a memorable experience 10/10 would recommend and like to visit again.

I lived there for most of my life. Amazing place to grow up, besides that the cemetery has more people burried than the actual population

1000 years ago the vikings sent convicts there.
It was the punishment for crimes where death was considered too mild.
