Sounds like they are announcing significant progress on the Axiom suits, as well as other things, like the Orion capsule updates.

Edit: Blue Moon and HLS Starship updates as well.

      – Much Dragon technology has gone into HLS with minimal modifications.
      – Propellant transfer tests
      – New Artemis 4 mission profile, LLO, increased safety due to more abort opportunities.

Jared I. is making the crew announcements now

      – Backup – Bob Hinnze, USAF
      – Mission Specialist – Andre Douglas, US Coast Guard
      – Mission Specialist/doctor – Frank Rubio
      – Pilot – Luca Parmitano – ESA
      – Commander – Randy Bressen(?) – USMC

    2. Aiming for a ~2 week long mission. Plenty of time for thorough testing of all systems. Will be exciting.

    3. The ESA YouTube channel is live streaming too probably we will see a European Astronaut? Unless it’s regular protocol.

    4. Starship HLS stuff (pretty much stuff we already know):

      – Starship V3 will be the base for the tankers, depot, and HLS.

      – HLS stuff is heavily based on Dragon.

      – Building the first „flight-fidelity“ cabin for HLS at Starbase.

      – Ship-to-ship propellant transfer demo still targeting later this year.

      – A3 will use a „V3 vehicle off the line, with a docking adapter“.

      – Updated plan for the landing: involves HLS docking with Orion in Low Earth Orbit then taxiing Orion to the Moon, rather than meeting Orion at the Moon.

    5. „So you wanna find out who the astronauts are?“ *grins*

      He’s teasing us lmao.

    6. Announcements starting!

      **1. Backup Crewmember:** [Bob Hines](https://www.nasa.gov/people/bob-hines/)

      > Hines completed his first spaceflight as the pilot on NASA’s SpaceX Crew-4 mission (April 27 – Oct. 14, 2022), serving as flight engineer of Expedition 67 and 68 aboard the International Space Station. Hines logged a total of 170 days in space during the mission

      **2. Mission Specialist:** [Andre Douglas](https://www.nasa.gov/people/nasa-astronaut-andre-douglas/)

      > This is his first spaceflight.

      **3. Mission Specialist:** [Frank Rubio](https://www.nasa.gov/people/frank-rubio/)

      > COL Rubio, along with cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitry Petelin of Roscosmos, launched on Sept. 21, 2022 on the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan to the International Space Station. The crew landed on Sept. 27, 2023, with Rubio breaking the record for the longest single duration spaceflight by a U.S. astronaut with a mission duration of 371 days.

**4. Pilot:** [Luca Parmitano](https://www.esa.int/Science_Exploration/Human_and_Robotic_Exploration/Astronauts/Luca_Parmitano) – Italian, from the European Space Agency

      > In February 2011, Luca was assigned as a flight engineer to Italian space agency ASI’s first long-duration mission on the International Space Station. He was launched on a Soyuz launcher from Baikonur, Kazakhstan on 28 May 2013. Luca spent 166 days in space, personally conducting over 20 experiments, and took part in two spacewalks and the docking of four spacecraft during his ‘Volare’ mission. He landed safely back on Earth on 11 November 2013. Luca was launched to the International Space Station for his second mission in the Russian Soyuz MS-13 spacecraft on 20 July 2019 – the 50th anniversary of the first human lunar landing – and returned 6 February 2020. His 201-day mission saw him take on the role of Space Station commander for Expedition 61 – becoming the third European and first ever Italian International Space Station commander.

      **5. Commander:** [Randy Bresnik](https://www.nasa.gov/people/randolph-komrade-bresnik/)

      > STS-129 (November 16 through November 29, 2009). This was the 31st shuttle flight to the International Space Station. During the mission, the crew delivered two Express Logistics Carriers (ELC racks) to the space station, approximately 30,000 pounds of replacement parts. Bresnik performed two spacewalks for a total of 11 hours and 50 minutes. The STS-129 mission was completed in 10 days, 19 hours, 16 minutes and 13 seconds, traveling 4.5 million miles in 171 orbits, and returned to Earth bringing back with them NASA astronaut Nicole Stott following her tour of duty aboard the station.

      > ISS Expedition 52/53 (July 28 through December 14, 2017). The crew launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome aboard the Soyuz 51S spacecraft. Bresnik was joined by ESA/ASI Astronaut Paolo Nespoli and Russian Cosmonaut Sergey Ryazanskiy. During the mission the crew worked over 300+ scientific experiments and investigations, worked with 4 different visiting space vehicles, and conducted 4 spacewalks (3 USOS & 1 Russian). Bresnik performed 3 spacewalks totaling 20 hours and 10 minutes. Bresnik’s spacewalk experience is now 5 EVAs for a total of 32 hours 0 minutes outside in the void of space.

    7. No women this time is interesting.

At the risk of sounding „too woke“, I do think representation is important in this context.

The crew exist as leaders and public figures as much as they are „workers“, and we saw millions of young girls inspired by Christina Koch.

    8. Bummed to not see any of the incredible women at NASA and ESA represented on this mission, but a stellar crew. Go Artemis III!

    9. OreoSpeedwaggon on

I was keeping my fingers crossed for an all-woman crew, and this is the total opposite of that. WTH, NASA?

    10. Psychodelonaut on

While Andre was Victor’s backup for II, I’m surprised he was selected instead of a woman. Frank I can understand since he’ll probably retire after this one, same with Randy.

Really disappointed a woman wasn’t chosen and I doubt they’ll ever address it. There are plenty of women astronauts who are just as qualified and the representation means way more.

Maybe with Jared’s push for more launches they moved the women to the more „exciting“ missions. I bet they’ll choose to have two women land on the moon for IV.

    11. Unlikely-Complex3737 on

What’s up with everyone talking about there not being a woman on the crew that is not even going to the moon? We got a two people of color and an ESA astronaut.
