    1. A humanoid robot has successfully reached the summit of Ecuador’s Chimborazo volcano. This is a new milestone in efforts to push legged robots beyond controlled environments into some of the world’s harshest environments.

The robot, a modified Unitree G1 named “Pemba,” recently completed an expedition to the 20,341-foot (6,200-meter) peak, according to project details shared by the team and reported by Humanoids Daily. The climb is the first stage of an ambitious “Triple Crown” robotics expedition that could eventually see the humanoid attempt Mount Everest.

    2. Stupid PR stunts notwithstanding, a robotics mission to get all the trash off Everest without risking human life sounds great… until the robots freeze up and become even more dead weight littering the slopes.
