    1. What utter nonsense! The photo is being misinterpreted to show how limited our horizons are.

      Back then, it was simply normal. Nothing was flooded; the goats grazed around the village in spring and autumn because Zermatt still had meadows, pastures, and barns.

      Today, it’s all staged. The tourism department makes sure there’s always someone still grazing goats—yes, grazing, because their former purpose has been transformed into a marketing gimmick and landscape maintenance.

      I know Zermatt from that time. I had a St. Bernard pulling my sled and/or cart. Depending on the season.
