    1. Hello there,

I run a colorguessing game[0] and the data is colleted by me and procssed using JavaScript and visualized with D3.

The color wheel shows all possible colors. Each dot is a player’s guess, plotted by hue (angle) and saturation (radius). The large circle is the correct answer.

The last chart shows the distribution of all scores. The dashed line is the average.

    2. I am concerned for people who think carpaccio is blue or green
      Fun game though!

I thought you made up names and then just told people they were real colors to see if a given name evoked a certain color feeling to people. Jokes on me I guess those are all real colors that I’ve never heard of.

    4. Who the F decided that „Appalachian Forest“ is gray? Not even a hint of green.

I recommend the board game Hues and Cues – you have to guide people to a coloured space on the board using one word.

Leads to a lot of arguments along the lines of „if you think paprika is that shade of yellow-brown, I’m not eating goulash at your house!“ and „have you ever met a Labrador?“

    6. What’s with all the dots around the outer edge? It seems like consistent behavior regardless of the target color

I play colorguesser every day and a 400+ score is a good day. Sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised, sometimes I just have no idea and guess based on vibes, and sometimes my guess is absolutely wrong.

    8. I got screwed up by the cathedral one but then upon seeing the result I went “oh, ok… celestial… blueish… fine”, but zebra finch?! That one was an arrow to the knee. Score got saved by the port wine. 3pt below global average. Seems like the large number thing is holding up. Also, whoever did 492 is a mantis shrimp for sure.
