When they have to change their own metrics to hide the fact that going with the passive baseline investment strategy would have billions more dollars in the fund, there is little evidence that we would leave billions behind. Especially when you consider how much it is costing us to have them manage it.

Seems clear that the authors are not bringing any kind of cost/benefit analysis to this article, and are just throwing out a bunch of random unrelated facts to give the piece a veneer of making an argument against the cuts, like that corporations have a lot of capital abroad. No evidence has been presented to show that the government’s specific „cutting tax experts“ (whatever that means specifically, the article doesn’t actually say what specifically it’s doing, it just mentions in passing that the government „is also cutting CRA tax experts“) is weakening its ability to collect revenue. What if a „tax expert“ is actually someone who was spending all their time doing something unproductive and doesn’t have the right skillset to help the organization pivot to new and more effective practices?
