The US is pathetically failing to generate wealth for ~ 80 – 90 % of its population.

It generates money. It makes it possible to possess some things, often well-advertised and useless things, which are harder to obtain somewhere else.

But the wealth, things that make you more of a human being — education, time with family, security with your health and your future, affordable quality food, ability to raise kids, ability (practical, not theoretical) to travel and see the world — those foundational values are not attainable by a large majority of the Americans.
