While on the one hand, yes, it’s never too late to get what you want out of life, I *really* hope women are setting their sights a bit higher than wearing colorful outfits like a Go Ranger squad and singing karaoke together.
“See? Older women can still be cute.” is framing the discussion like cuteness was ever tied to a woman’s value in the first place. I’d much prefer we go the opposite way and stop treating cute, young women like they’re musically talented because 48 of them sing a mediocre song together in matching outfits. The number of genuinely talented musicians who are overlooked because they can’t or don’t want to market themselves as adorable is the real issue, no?
There’s nothing wrong with being cute and having fun with the music you like, but as far as celebrations of women and aging go, this one just feels kind of vapid and like it’s missing the point. Good for them for doing something they enjoy, though, I guess.
