Haven’t heard of ppl having problems with this. Usually my washing machine gets upset with me because i forget to turn the water on. Seeing as you’ve managed to wash clothes earlier i dont think thats the issue. Maybe a kink in the hose or blockage somewhere in the line?

From your picture, it looks like your hose is too long. The washing machine has to pump the waste water up twice to get it to the extraction point in the wall. Dirt builds up in the pipes and blockages may be mean the pump has to work extra hard. I don’t think water pressure is so high in the end that a 90 degree bend matters much. I’d say clean the fluff in from the washing machine, empty the filters and clean the water disposal as far as you can and use a shorter hose if you can

I’m sorry to be that guy, but the proper way, for insurance purposes, is to call a person to do it. I hate it myself, but it is what it is.

That water outlet usually connects to your floor drain, check if there is a blockade.

    5. Ensure the air vent on top of the outlet is not clogged. I have to poke it open with a piece of guitar string once a year. My old machine (+15 years) didnt have a problem with it but it’s replacement does.

    6. Try to bring the drain hose higher when from the beginning. Often machines have holder in the back for keeping the hose high to make a rise. Bring it as high as you can, but I have had no issue having it maximum height at the holder that is usually at the top of the machine in the back. The rest of the hose I leave as it is but try to avoid extra ups and downs. Then connect to the outlet as you have shown in the picture.

I have pretty much the same model as you, from the looks of it. When we moved, we got a professional to install it (insurance) and he took some time to position the hose in a way that the water would move as well as possible. Apparently it can have struggles, if the hose position isn’t good.

    8. Something is fishy here. I find it hard to believe that a 90 degree bend on a pipe that’s not kinked would somehow affect the flow enough to prevent a basic pump pushing the water through. If Whirpool when contacted stated that the cause is that 90 degree bend and didn’t offer any solutions it sounds to me like they’re just trying to make you go away.

I’m suspecting that you have somehow faulty output pump, the pump has been undersized from the start and simply cannot push water high enough to empty it or that there’s something funky going on inside the pipe itself.

Faulty pump: this happens with time and pumps break. Usually when a pump breaks it breaks for good and there’s no „works half time and not the other“, but it’s not unheard of happening.

Undersized motor: The problem is that the pump just can’t push the water high enough. This can be fixed by elevating the machine itself so the pump needs to rise the water that much less.

Funky pipes: There’s a pressure buildup within the pipesystem that works against the pump falling just short of the required height. This could explain the „works sometimes“ aspect.

Try to run a couple test cycles with the hose emptying in to a bucket. Make sure that the highest point of the hose is above that 90 bend to rule out the „undersized motor“-possibility. If the machine works without issues at that configuration call a plumber to assess the pipes. If the machine still works only sometimes then call a repairman to take a look at the machine itself.

    9. You ask a licensed plumber to do it, not Reddit, so that your insurance covers the damages that may ensue from improper installation.
