Sigh… Does anyone remember when electrics use to drop in price as time went on?

      $50-$100 increase I get … but $300?!?

And will the price ever even go down? Such an awful time

    3. I mean. I couldn’t afford one before. So not being able to afford one just MORE isn’t devastating. But man, it feels like buying ANYTHING is impossible to justify these days.

I just got done building a PC. Retail 32GB memory $500. 1TB SSD $300. That’s $800 before even thinking about the rest of the build. I’m surprised it isn’t more honestly.

Well hey since none of us can afford anything eventually no one will be able to buy anything right? Mostly everyone I know is currently jobless or barely getting by. So buying something like this isn’t even a thought for most people I know now, its too much. Most restraunts I go to during busy time have almlst no one as well.

You’d think companies would see we’ve been bled dry by now we can’t keep buying shiz at these prices or maybe its just a rich person only thing now I guess.

I’m just rambling because everyone I talk to is depressed and I just had another 2 friends kill themsleves over depression taking the total of friends who have done so to 5. This world is turning out fantastic just like we were told as kids, except not and polar opposite 😭

    6. Nuts. I literally checked the price of these yesterday for the first time in my life. Have a friend overseas who has one and showed me when he was in the states… never thought I’d be interested.

I can’t believe I was literally thinking of pulling the trigger on the 1TB yesterday (only reason I didn’t is because I have a few TB of games and wanted to check the space required on the ones I’d really like on it) and see this news today. ~$650 was a stretch, but almost $1000 is a definite no-go.

Sorry Valve. Maybe I’ll catch you guys on the Frame.

So I guess the middle and lower classes are just going to be priced out of gaming then. Guess we’ll get to see how long those gilded customers keep them going.

    9. Is the Steam Machine still gonna have the $6-700ish price tag Reddit swore it would definitely cost because Valve is just so generous? Or are we finally out of that delusion?

    10. Not worth a dime over $500, let alone $950. Holy fuck.

Steam Machine is pretty much cooked at this point, horrible timing man

For that price, you can get a ROG Xbox Ally X which is much more powerful and runs games way better and the regular Xbox Ally is way cheaper and can do the same. What is Steam doing?

    12. We are looking at a total economic collapse. The world’s economy is built on consumer spending. The consumer are losing their buying power. With the cost of everything rising, we will also see an increase in foreclosures, evictions, and repossessions. While the tech bros are rushing to replace employees with machines. Whelp, if history taught us anything, it is that civilizations crumble when the middle and poor become one and the same.

All because some marketing team really sold people the idea of LLMs and generative AI
