    1. I’m begging to think all of this was scripted just for all these “backlash” articles to be pushed on social media and create discourse or outrage.

This isn’t about racism. They’re just getting attention and advertising for themselves.

„Coded“ can we not normalize the silly tumbler speech Please. It’s silly

I feel like the quotation marks could have been around the word “jokes” instead of “racist” in that headline amd it would have been more accurate.

its never good to complain about a roast special being offensive, racist or misogynist as that only makes them want to be more offensive. but watching the clips just made me really question what kind of person does one have to be to find this stuff intriguing and funny. just absolute shitiness all around.

The maga racist comedy was funny in the biden presidency because the culture was generally pretty anti racist. But now with trump back in power, it’s lame and pick-me coded

oh my god when are we going to stop hearing about this roast

Do people know what roasts are? I’m no fan of them but they are what they are

Um… if you watch the clip she most definitely was not throwing shade at anyone and was doing everything she could not to talk shit.

All these white people who can’t handle racial humor when it involves black people even when the black people who ran the thing were laughing. You think Shane Gillis or Tony give one single fuck about these articles calling the racist when Sheryl Underwood Draymond Green and Kevin Hart told them they loved it?

      Its a ROAST!!!

      how dare jokes offend me!

Why couldn’t they tell jokes that I like!??

I feel like a lot of the “racist” jokes worked because they had layers. It was never just a joke about Kevin being black, it also joked about his height, the statements that he’s an absentee father, joking about him being a sell out, etc. If you didn’t like a joke that’s fine, you didn’t find it funny. The most annoying part of all of this is the people that sat down to watch a Roast of all things and then got offended at the jokes

      > I don’t believe that jokes can’t be made that are racist jokes. Ironically racist jokes–the problem is not that it’s racist. It’s like sometimes you’ve got to find a way, if you really want to do a joke, you’ve got to find a way to make it make sense. You can’t just like say it, and it’s out of nowhere..

IDK, seems like a pretty balanced take. If you’re going to make a joke about a race, or really any taboo topic, it has to land. Else, you’re just making a racist joke/statement that racists will probably like, which empowers the wrong people to keep a dumb belief, but everyone else thinks is just offensive or weird.

Why does anyone care about these highly scripted “Roasts”. No one is blindsided or taken by surprise by anything that happens, it’s all planned out and approved in advance. It’s just a stupid soap opera for comedians.

    14. White women get more offended by racism against black people than actual black people do lol.

    15. I turned that shit off once Kevin Hart started shilling some bank and Walmart in the middle of the roasts. Skip me with this crap.

    16. Expensive-Bee777 on

This roast must have done bad numbers at first because they won’t shut up about it. Look, we don’t care lol.

    17. Fun fact, I didn’t understand the phrase “white savior complex” until she was used as the example lol

I sense a meanness and a thin-skinned posture with Shane Gillis and Tony. Even if their jokes were more nuanced/funny, it is hard to laugh along with comedians that seem to have so much anger towards others.

Tfw you cant be as funny so you try to shame comedians into being worse out of professional jealousy.
