Correction, it was a hit on Bila Tserkva, a bit south of Kyiv.

There was a second Oreshnik strike too right? Seems like they fired two Oreshnik’s.

>The cost of a single serial Oreshnik missile may range from $*40 million to $100 million*
For a war of attrition, this is a bad use of missiles. Or good, depending on how quick Russia needs to throw in the towel.

With total weight of warheads approx 1-1.5t (according to the internet) I assume each of 6 submunitions of 6 warheads weights around 30kg, not sure it can do a lot of damage either with kinetic munitions or with something like bunker buster (at mach 10 it kinda make sense), but it requires really good precision to make any damages, which this system lacks.
Most likely just a testing launch considering the price.

Using Oreshnik’s to deliver a traditional/dummy payloads is such a waste of money and resources. Putin is just flexing his wonder weapon, trying to take the focus off Ukraine’s successful long range deep strikes in Russia. Time is running out for old man in the Kremlin.

Any news on what they hit?

Hold on they loaded conventional warheads into IRBM MIRVs and lobbed them at Ukraine? Good lord that’s wasteful. What’s next, converting jet aircraft into guided missiles?
NonadicWarrior on
Counted 36 warheads. So how many oreshniks is that in total?

This seems like a complete and total waste of money. What is this supposed to accomplish in even the most optimistic of scenarios?
I mean, surely the Russian command isn’t _trying_ to make themselves look ever more incompetent, and yet somehow they can’t help themselves.

Considering it’s a MIRV system with likely zero payload and inadequate accuracy, this is a pretty desperate response to distract from the swarm of slow flying drones that made it all the way to Moscow.

If the first two Oreshnik’s with no payloads didn’t change anything, why the hell would these two? A total waste of money compared to just firing cheaper missiles with actual payloads.

So we are at a point in the war when Putin is using Wunder Waffen to „terrorize“ Ukrainians and get a kick out of it ?

How many warheads can one carry? Just curious as that seemed like a lot for one.

And that should be the very last of the Oreshniks that the Russians have right there. Well… I mean the ones that aren’t stuck on self destruct mode.
