The number of tourists in Japan is still at its highest level (similar to last year) over the last 4 months.
It would be more than last year without the „Chinese incident“.

Lower tourist numbers is fairly normal when a war starts !! It’s not really surprising that people don’t want to travel by air when it involves flying near an active war zone which is the case for European tourists at least .
The Iran war also means people’s finances have been hit due to price rises. Some jobs are also at risk. Hardly surprising there is a tourist downturn !!

Between flight prices spiking, routes being cancelled or rerouted, and the general economic uncertainty, this all tracks.
We’re flying out in December and I’m just hoping things don’t get cancelled between now and then.
