what I learned from this is how neatly Turkey fits between Florida and Texas

People know. Everyone knows the map is distorted. It’s taught in school at a young age in pretty much every country on earth. It’s mentioned constantly on the internet. Everybody knows the Mercator maps distort the size of the northern hemisphere.
