Ottawa has been favouring separatist provinces my entire life. PEI drove a harder bargain to join the country than BC and they got a bridge. Quebec had a referendum and then received gravy equalization terms that see it benefit billions each year from the rest of Canada. First Nations use their opposition to major projects to extract huge payouts on top of their already federally funded housing, education, health services, and water.
Today’s Canada is a zero sum game, a tragedy of the commons.
Been that way my whole life. Alberta is just the latest group to realize it.
