I wonder if they are from Ottawa Police Service (OPS). That would be tracking.

    2. Hopefully they can be subject to discipline from the the TPS once they’re back?

Based on their professional experience in Canada they weren’t expecting Spanish police to be competent and efficient

« Names of the officiers werent disclosed », I wonder why 🤦‍♂️

    5. > The first police officer, who was a passenger in the taxi and would not have participated in the assault, resisted arrest and is now free, but is being investigated for assaulting an authority figure.

I would have thought that actual cops would know better than resisting arrest. I don’t condone violence on either side, but it’s ironic he resisted “even if he didn’t do anything wrong”. Shows that everyone is subject to fight or flight reaction in a stressful situation, no matter the training.

      > The three Canadian police officers, who were on vacation, were in a taxi with the woman when one of them touched her inappropriately. The woman got angry, resisted, and ended up receiving a punch to the face from a second police officer.

I’m guessing not the first time this guy punched someone in the face for resisting him. You don’t just suddenly develop the habit of punching people in the face.

      I think it’s time for a limmerick.

There once were 3 cops from Toronto…

Absolutely disgusting! What drives these barbarians to do such a thing, considering they passed psych tests.

All Officers need to go through not just physical but psychological testing every two years. This should be mandatory.

Way too many unhealthy and abusive officers these days. The bad apples have contaminated the entire basket.

It’s weird the article led with her being a sex worker, could have just said it was a woman. Most other assault articles don’t list what folks do to pay rent

    10. The one fleeing to Palma (after throwing the punch)

As a cop that’s incredibly dumb and ironic

Wow. If found guilty I hope their crimes also result in a loss of jobs when they return don’t want these guys anywhere near law enforcement or guns.

And watch them get paid leave for 10 years before they’re finally fired.

    13. I guess they forgot they were off duty and out of jurisdiction.

Apparently the one that managed to get back to Canada before being arrested is the one that actually punched the sex worker, so I wonder if he’ll be extradicted to Spain? I hope so.

Love the underlying misogyny and attempt to degrade the victim throughout this article. Refers to the cops respectfully as “police officers” (not pigs, because heaven forbid!), but calls the woman a “prostitute” but not by her respectful title of Sex Worker (heaven forbid!).

Suspend without pay, Fire them, publish their names, send em back, trial, prison for life, same thing happens to them in Barcelona’s finest jail=justice.

Why weren’t their names released? They have no issue releasing the names of anyone else who catches charges even though they haven’t been convicted of anything yet. Considering the severity of these accusations, names should definitely be released before it gets swept under the rug.

Canada and the US, through ignorant and neglectful hiring and recruitment processes, have allowed police forces to be largely comprised of the last people in the world that should be cops.

Limited sample size, but out of the dozen or so people from my younger years who became cops, 7 or 8 had sh!t for brains and were seen as complete jokes who were near the bottom of social and academic barrels. As soon as they put on the badge, they took every opportunity to abuse that tiny bit of power they were givem to try to make up of for a lifetime of garnering zero respect from anyone.

Being a police officer should require at least an undergrad degree with a focus on psychology.

      Name them

Edit to add: if they won’t, I will: from cp24 article – officers from Toronto Police Services:

      Evan Glennie

      Rich Rand

      Caglar Yigit

Not surprising it’s the TPS.. the same association that spent their time on Twitter crying and whining about Trudeau vs cleaning up their own act.

Those ARE serious charges, but it doesn’t look like anyone at all is actually taking them seriously. One officer is back in Canada already which obviously means he’s not waiting in Spain for a trial, doesn’t it? The other two are expected back in Canada  shortly too. WTF?

And they are facing „suspension“ on arrival. What does that mean, exactly? A sternly worded letter and the summer off with full pay? Toronto Police did NOT indicate they were pursuing firing them.

      👏🏼 well 👏🏼 done 👏🏼 Barcelona 👏🏼 police
More countries should take sexual assault and abuse against women this seriously
