A war started because the British refused to let the largest of the ww2 resistance forces enter government because of their left wing politics. What followed was massacres, mass kidnappings into Bulgaria and Yugoslavia, and a paranoia of the Greek military and diaspora that would see the rise of the fascist junta with American support only about two decades later, itself eventually leading to the partition of Cyprus.
