Didn’t think Belgium would be almost as high as Ireland.

Nice! Should be per capita or per km2 though, otherwise bigger countries always have a leverage. How does Greece or Portugal compare to Spain, proportionally?

9 million in Iceland? More like 2. The country would never support 9 million tourists
Czechia more than Poland. Lithuania almost the same number as Romania, France same number as Turkey. Dude, just delete it.

If DB provides 30 per cent better service I would visit Germany 300 per cent more.

I’m from Northern Ireland, wish we had numbers lol. Mad how many statistics we’re missing from. Unsure how we don’t have numbers given the rest of the UK does?

Now that Prague has got rid of its reputation, at least in the UK, of a stag week destination, it would be a great place to visit.
My mate had his honeymoon there decades ago, and absolutely loved it. Nice people, good food, great beer, and the city is beautiful.
The only problem, he said, that the food made him put on weight, he wasn’t used to it.

I think the colormap used here is fine, but it’s a bit problematic that some countries have color gradients across them, probably just to make things look fancier. E.g. the NW of Spain has a lighter color than the SE of Spain, which makes it look like the NW gets more visitor-nights than the SE, even though it’s probably the other way around. It would have been better give each country a flat color that exactly reflects the colorbar.

As a brit, why the fuck are as many people coming here as to france?

Nonsense . Toilet paper worthy.

Good for Spain, you also have to take into account the kind of travel depending on destination.
As France gets more visitors that are either connecting or staying for shorter stays most likely due to city stays, Spain has a huge coastline, (in fact it holds the beaches world record at a staggering number of 794 blue flag beaches), and that inherently means that those visiting the coasts or the Islands will likely spend more nights vs those visiting cities. Having such great weather might also help…
I would love to see a feature extrapolation of this dataset to see what factors carried the most weight

This needs to broken down between visitors coming from other European countries and those coming from non European countries.

Bizarre omission of Moldova and B&H, the latter of which gets a lot of combined trip tourism from Croatia, and the inclusion of Turkey as a part of Europe despite excluding other authoritarian human rights violators like Russia and Belarus.

So Greece and then my country of Austria are the most visited per capita? Interesting how many countries in Europe, especially Spain, are complaining more and more about tourists, yet here we have seemingly very little issues with them. I guess we are more lucky since tourists come all seasons and also are spread out well over the entire country.

I’m surprised in the UK we get so many visitors.
I imagine it is likely loads of people visiting London and Edinburgh, and possibly Manchester And less likely the countryside or other cities?
