      Israel recognized Somaliland and Ethiopia was supposed to do the same as well.

      The African Union does not want Somalia to break apart. When independent states start to break off, African countries will be scared that this will set a precedent. There are many regions in Africa that want to be their own country, like Western Sahara for example.

    4. Amusingly, the breakaway state of Somaliland has its shit together much more than the rest of Somalia.  Nonviolent elections. A functioning parliament. The rule of law.

      I ponder why we import people like these when they can barely form a cohesive structure within their own country. These people take tribalism to the extreme.
