I understand the intent and the benevolence of it, but serious mental health disorders are of extremely high prevalence for trans people. The Canadian healthcare system doesn’t have the mental health resources to deal with a significant increase of trans refugees.
Some studies show up to 50% of trans people meet Borderline Personality Disorder diagnosis criteria. The people in government who make these decisions don’t consider the broader consequences.
