And there will come no reckoning for these religious bigots that force innocent people to flee their hatred. The people these assholes persecute have more Jesus like tendencies than Christian fascists could ever dream to have.

I’m in Minneapolis. We have TONS of trans „refugees“ from other states. And they are so so so welcome here. I know it can be hard to find jobs/housing and it’s expensive to move to another state. And MN isn’t perfect. But we’ll treat you a heck of a lot better than those other states <3

The sad part is this is what the bigots want. They refuse to live in community with folks who are not like them and will destroy the foundations of society to make it so. After a while they flee to more accepting places.
But the bigots are not satisfied they must expel these people from the nation and unfortunately because our system dictates that land votes by pushing people out and concentrating them into small areas they increase their power making it easier to attack the community they already drove out.

I’m trans. My cis girlfriend and I moved from Houston to Denver because of this and it was the best decision we’ve ever made. Life is just better in blue states.

We’re not overwhelmed. Every trans person is welcome here, the gates are open.

I don’t know anyone in Seattle who is using the words overwhelmed to describe it unless it’s overwhelmed with joy and happiness in welcoming trans people to their community.

Thank you Seattle for taking care of our trans brothers and sisters who have had to flee disgusting places like here in Idaho where our legislators can’t seem to do anything but pass bills to oppress trans people.

They can move to Maine, which is arguably the safest and most welcoming state in the nation for transgender folks. Detractors live here too, but we were doing things like protecting bathroom rights before it was a national conversation.
I understand the idea of moving to a blue state where they will be safe, but the more liberals that move out of red states for a variety of reasons, the more permanently red those states become. 😞
BozoTheRenown on
Well, this is a boost to Seattle’s property values. It will give them more congressional seats. And Seattle’s economy will boom.
The red states will lose congressional seats, lose tax revenue, and housing values will drop.

As a trans Seattle native, the only thing I’m overwhelmed by is the cost of living and the increasingly concerning headlines and actions from the federal government. I’m working on applying for Canadian citizenship so that I at least qualify for a passport somewhere.

Actual Seattle-adjacent (Tukwila, I’m the lil’ bitty city that borders its south end just past Boeing Field) resident speaking here, we absolutely welcome our queer and trans siblings to our town and hope that they find our community loving, supportive and welcoming to them. 💖

Not surprising and probably for the best, as in for their safety. As someone who is more left leaning living in a red state that just butchered one of our major cities in three different voting districts, I wish people would stay and fight the MAGA.
I understand though.

I’ve read recently that an estimated 400,000 transgender Americans have relocated from red states to blue since Trump was re-elected. It’s a significant demographic migration that is ongoing and not getting enough coverage. American citizens, in their own country, are so scared they are uprooting their lives and and fleeing.

Unfortunately many of the most welcoming locations are also the most expensive.

I’m glad that so many of my neighbors share the feeling that our doors are open for trans refugees, but I hope that at least some of the people saying that mean that specially *their* door is open in a real, not just metaphorical way. I know we’re all struggling to get by these days and nobody’s job or housing is ever actually stable with how capitalism is pushing things. But if you have a spare room, a couch, a car you’re not using, those are the things that trans people actually need to be able to resettle here successfully, not just being told that they’re more tolerated here.
Seattle is not “overwhelmed” with trans refugees. Organizations like [Project Open Arms / TractionPNW](https://tractionpnw.org/open-arms/) are because not enough people are signing up to host that only a fraction of those who need to escape can.
I know it’s asking a lot. I’ve been hosting a refugee from the south for a year and I’m glad that so far we’ve been able to make it work, she’s found a stable and rewarding job, and is able to contribute back to the house after paying off her existing debts. Trying to offer stability when none of us really feel stable has been stressful. But if we can get through this with one more person also making it through safe and alive than otherwise would be, than any sacrifice is worth it.

And a transgender woman was just killed at the University of Washington this week and all evidence points to it being a hate crime. UW doesn’t even have the balls to call it that since they have to craft corporate like messaging to avoid federal funding targeting I imagine. It’s fucked.
