It still blows my mind how normalised this dramatic shift in US foreign policy has become. It truly is the end of an era

Taiwan being cooked without US is already a foreseable outcome. I just hope there will be a solution without bloodshed and loss of freedom for Taiwan.

Isn’t it obvious? Trump gave up Taiwan in exchange for China getting Iran oil and signing off on a US invasion of Iran.

Lmao Republicans for China but jokes aside, this has been the status quo. They don’t recognize Taiwan, and maintain ambiguity on purpose.

    5. Well, that’s fine? I mean why would Taiwan declare independence when they’re already independent?

Looks like the US is making a return to the Obama era Taiwan policy

    7. That’s all we need… Trump involved in another geopolitical skirmish ! LOL.

Wasn’t Trump going to end the Ukraine war 24 hours after he was elected ? How’d that work out ?

    8. Ok? This is the position I would have expected from an american president. Republican or Democrat. This has just been standing US policy for decades.

He’s just reiterating longstanding US policy, which is that we would like to maintain the status quo in the region. That means no Taiwan declaring independence, something that the Taiwanese don’t even agree on and would likely trigger immediate Chinese military action against them.
