Baphomet isn’t the devil. In fact, the symbolism points more toward balance and unity than evil. Gnostic Jesus gestures toward a similar idea in the Gospel of Thomas:
“When you make the two one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the above like the below, and when you make the male and the female into a single one… then you will enter the kingdom.”
It’s all about nondualism: seeing the other as yourself, loving the other as yourself, and recognizing the divine reflected in all things. You are God, they are God, and the other is your mirror. The point is not separation, fear, or worship of evil, but the union of opposites: above and below, masculine and feminine, self and other, human and divine
