    1. AKA the countries wholly or partially secretly ruled by crab monsters. New Zealand isn’t surprising, but land-locked Switzerland is.

I think there are some regional or local restrictions in parts of USA and Canada

maybe switzerland’s just taking a stand for ethical fondue practices

    5. They say explicit ban. In some countries it could be considered animal cruelty.

Suprised to see the UK has restrictions. I used to boil them alive, maybe 70, sometimes 200+, per day, in one of the 5 stars of London.

Always going to boil lobsters, breaking the shell releases huge amounts of juice and taste.

It should be. It’s a horrid sight and sound when you boil them alive. Like children screaming.

This is wrong. Its fully banned in Norway. The lobsters have to be stunned or killed swiftly before being boiled to ensure that it doesent feel any pain.

    10. Lobsters are just ocean bugs and though ocean bugs taste better than land bugs that doesn’t mean they require our empathy, we should be more focused on fishing practices to ensure we don’t fish them to extinction.

Is there any issue with the freezer method of putting them to sleep first before tossing them in? I understand wanting to limit pain but like others have mentioned here, the method of cutting into the head first causes the juices to flow out.

This sounds like less of a kindness when you realize what they do instead

The Netherlands will likely turn red soon. A change to the law that regulates this is being drafted and will be put before the legislature in the fourth quarter of 2026.
