„The obese mice given pure THC still had impaired metabolic function that mirrored diabetes, while the mice given the more complex cannabis oil saw their metabolic function return to normal.“

    2. So full spectrum cannabis oil is basically more effective than just THC itself? Ive thought that for awhile now just based on my own experiences, but i know thats not how the scientific method works.

But did the obese mice have access to boxes of milano dark chocolate cookies? That is what THC users have problems with

We can just add it to the pile with eggs, coffee, and a glass of wine I guess because there are studies coming out constantly that say cannabis is both good for you and bad for your heart.

I’ve literally heard it’s good for circulation after workouts while there are also studies that show it’s bad for your heart with no cardiovascular benefits, and also [increases the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other vascular issues](https://www.cdc.gov/cannabis/health-effects/heart-health.html)

      And yes, that[ includes edibles](https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamacardiology/fullarticle/2834540?guestAccessKey=dac54772-2c2f-4c3a-9cdc-db8ae3c445d1).

There are certainly a lot of studies that rely on [self-reported benefits that show signs of benefits](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10403841/).

I guess it’s not the worse thing if it does help with metabolic health and weight loss while giving some risks for cardiovascular health but bummer for me who has recently gone on an emergency heart-healthy diet that includes little to no drinking indefinitely.

Keep in mind that just because this is the case in rats it doesn’t mean it’s the case with humans and you also need to consider the dose. For example fitness influencers love to talk about aspartame causing tumors in rats but to get as much aspartame as they gave those lab rats you’d need to drink over 3k cans of coke a day pretty consistently. Good luck with that.

    6. Not fair… Mice can’t buy a bag of doritos or get pizza delivered to their cage

Interesting. I remember when I was younger trying to learn a little about how cannabis interacts with the body I found that the body is littered with two different types of cannabinoid receptors – cb1 and cb2. I can’t recall which is which but, they don’t both allow the same types of cannabinoids to bind to them – It’s exclusive; if it works in one, it doesn’t in the other.

The receptors that have the ability to bind with THC are largely concentrated through the brain. While the receptors capable of binding with CBD are scattered through the body – and I may be incorrect on the magnitude – with a large concentration of them in/surrounding the stomach itself.

I’m curious to see where this goes and what’s revealed as the mechanism behind the assistance of recovered function

Did they compare cannabis oil to any other oils in the same quantity? I’m not reading the article because cannabis research is in about the same place that wine research was a decade or 2 ago. Wine has health benefits and health detriments but you only heard about the benefits.

Cannabis oil is likely a fine product. But if health claims are being made they should be contrasted against other oils like fish, flax, and palm oil for any benefits to be meaningful.

    9. Mice can’t call Uber Eats at 1am and order a pizza, 2 burritos supreme, super nachos, 6 taco bell tacos and 2 churros
