    An diesem Tag, dem 14. Mai 1539, überfielen die osmanischen Türken Limassol und zerstörten die Stadt vollständig.

    Der Überfall der osmanischen Türken auf Limassol im Jahr 1538 führte zur Zerstörung der Stadt und ihrer Burg. Jodocus v. Meggen gibt als Datum den 14. Mai 1539 an.

    Das Ausmaß der Zerstörung war so groß, dass von allen Gebäuden der Stadt nur noch die lateinische Kathedrale übrig blieb.

      never knew the latin cathedral was the only thing left standing after that raid. walking past it near the old harbour now its kinda crazy to think about. might swing by the castle this weekend tbh
