      Although technically pride flags would also be banned under Iran’s “demands”, it is quite clear to any Iranian (and should be quite clear to anyone following the news, really) that this ban is targeting the Iranian Lion and Sun flag rather than the pride flag.

      Two of the most important demands they set were that the national anthem must be uninterrupted, and that only the official national flag can be brought into stadiums. They are trying to control dissent and minimize the anti-regime narrative.

      Hundreds of thousands of Iranians have protested in the streets, but nothing gives you quite the platform to protest like a World Cup match filled with Iranians flying the opposition flag

      Reading the article, sounds like they asked for all flags that don’t represent a country to be banned. So if the Duke Boys wanted to fly the confederate battle flag they’d be in the same boat as the LGBTQ peeps.
