I don’t know a single Democrat VOTER who is pro data centers.
Seriously why don’t we just stick these all in the ultra-conservative rural areas that voted for em. Texas is absolutely massive. Just start sticking em all there

The data center itself is horrible, but what really scaring me is that it seems like politicians both local and federal are officially going full Autocrat and are literally ignoring the citizenry with astonishing brazeness and regularity now.

Utah is already dealing with drought issues. These data centers use enormous amounts of water for cooling systems.

Does Utah have enough water to support a data center like this? I thought Salt Lake was experiencing issues, but not sure where the DC is located and how it relates.

Speaking HYPOTHETICALLY this is the sort of action that would warrant mass sabotage from the community. Imagine if they started doing thing like trespassing after, destroying building materials, vandalism, disabling machinery, all sorts of awful things that would slow down the construction.

So much effort put into destroying most people’s livelihood. What is the point? At least in the Matrix people had the potential to be happy. They want no economy. Normal people will die while the 1% enjoy their hydroponic strawberries picked by robots.

For those who don’t know, the word backlash means people are complaining yet nothing’s going to stop the building of the datacenter.
This is how things work in the United States.

They may have approved it, but there are three important questions:
– Will it ever break ground?
– Will any part of it become operational?
– Will it ever be finished?
I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that this is some sort of scam.

I don’t think people truly realize just how big the Stratos project is. 40,000 acres can be seen from space.
It is:
* Two and a half times the size of Manhattan. Fucking Manhattan.
* More than TWO HUNDRED times larger than the current largest NSA data center.
* proposed to have multiple onsite natural gas power plants – not just one, but multiple power plants because it uses more that TWICE the peak power of the entire state of Utah.
* Projected to release as much heat as TWENTY THREE ATOMIC BOMBS every single day.
This project is insanity and makes Skynet in the Terminator movies look like the Dollar Store.

These data centers consume resources at planetary scale. A Utah State University physics professor said that the proposed Box Elder County data center could release heat equaling „23 atomic bombs“ PER DAY, while possibly raising temperatures throughout the morning and night.
