Hallo zusammen, ich bin vor ein paar Monaten aus den USA in eine Stadt im Westen Deutschlands gezogen. Ich habe in ein paar Monaten mehrere Geschäftsreisen, die mich jeweils für eine Woche aus der Stadt führen. Ich habe eine Haustierkatze. Was tun diejenigen mit Haustieren hier, um einen Sitter zu finden? Gibt es Apps oder Websites, um jemanden zu engagieren, oder sollte ich in Erwägung ziehen, meine Katze während meiner Abwesenheit zu beherbergen?

You can use websites/apps such as trustedhousesitter. I imagine there are more – this is just the one I have used as a pet sitter previously.
There is an app/website for pet sitters. Don’t know the name (really helpful I know) but you should find it with one Google search.
You can also look for a Katzenhotel,, Katzenpension, many also do outside visits for shorter durations.

I’m very great with cats if I was in germany I would have helped you hope you find what you are looking for.
Any friends or colleagues who can come over? I asked my neighbor last time for example.

I have used Rover for dog sitting
For a week, I’d have a friend come by every 1-2 days or so just to check up on them. I have an automatic feeder and water fountain that lasts about a week. I have a few friends and a neighbor that I can ask. I have multiple cats so they keep each other company though, perhaps for a single cat it’s best that somebody comes every day and plays with them a bit longer.
In Hannover haben wir einen Catsitterstammtisch. Wir gehen einmal im Monat zusammen essen. Und versorgen auf Gegenseitigkeit die Katzen. Läuft gut.

…might be an adventure for her to roam around with other cats for some time. And there is always company, which for me would be the biggest downside of cat sitters: they’re are just around for some hours per day (if even).
When my partner and I go on vacation a friend of us moves in for the time. This is an ideal for us, but not an option for everyone of course.
I don’t live close enough unfortunately. But I have to say something.

Usually my friends from work come over to take care. They also have cats so I take care of theirs too. Then, it becomes an endless cycle 😄
Try the neighborhood app called nebenan.de ! I see people offering or looking for pet sitters there all the time.
Depending on settings you will see only posts by people living in your part of the city.
Also welcome in Darmstadt, I lived there for a while and still have family there, it’s nice.
