> Del Toro then took a serious tone as he acknowledged that “we are, unfortunately, in times that make this movie more pertinent than ever because they tell us everything is useless to resist, that art can be done with a fucking app, and we are facing things so formidable.”
> “But I feel and I think, like the girl Ofelia in ‘Pan’s Labyrinth,’ if we can just leave a mark, if we can put our faith against our faith and our strength against our strength, there is hope,” he continued. “And the last thing we can have is to give to one of the two forces: we can give to love, or we can give to fear. Never, never, never give to fear.”
You can absolutely make art with an app, digital illustrators do all the time, 3d modellers etc
With an algorithm though? No.
Edit: the typical Redditors are utterly insufferable. Far out.
I wonder what the first is?
i’ve seen plenty of good ai art. Most of it is indeed slop but there are creators who utilize these new ai tools to great effect.
you can make art with anything
I hated Pan’s Labrinth. If it was for children, it was gory and violent. If it was for adults, the mythology didnt make any sense. Plus the violence was just gratuitous.
TWENTY YEARS?!
Holy shit time flys dude…
As far as I’m concerned, this is his Magnum Opus.
I respectfully disagree. Has Guillermo seen the first gen AI gif of Will Smith eating pasta? That shit can not be replicated :))
Don’t tell art what to do Guillermo
That’s a really poor choice of words; Photoshop is an app.
