China’s hardware iteration speed is honestly insane. The West still wins on branding/ecosystem, but Chinese companies are getting ridiculously good at making cheaper tech that’s “good enough” way faster than people expected.

These glasses will also be used for spying and gathering information

    3. What problems do these creeper glasses solve other than mass surveillance, spying and voyeurism?

    4. SpiritPrestigious945 on

China always focuses on realy usability and practicval benefits. Thats a fundamental difference to the west and thats why china is winning. Simple.

    5. Applies to also other tech.

Their electric vehicles are better and cheaper. Same for phones, although software side you can bet it’s all captured and logged by CCP.

Likely their more advanced tech, ie quantum computers is also few steps ahead. It’s a benefit of not having so many regulations and willingness to endure mishaps.

    6. I dont think this sub or any other tech/science subs can go a day without mentioning how China is better than any other country

    7. I bought this glass last time when I went back to China, totally garbage compared to my Oakley Meta glasses……

    8. At some point soon, anyone wearing thicker style acetate/plastic frames are going to look like a creeper just because it could potentially have a camera.

Hope everyone that wears glasses enjoys switching to clear plastic frames or thin metal/frameless lest the accusations start.

    9. I do electronic repair videos, car repair, ATV, motorcycle, ect. If there were a pair that could record for hours in 4K 60 fps I would buy them in a heartbeat beat. It is cumbersome to constantly change camera angles so I can show what I am doing

Oh goodie, now the distractions that were onc confined only to the phone in my hands are now directly on my face and over my eyes.

I am sure this in will no way impede anyone or cause accidents and problems.

Imagine people driving around with these on and they suddenly get a pop up alert.

    11. These glasses will be used for mass surveillance, like every other similar product no matter where they’re made. Facebook was reportedly using videos from their glasses without permission and Tesla apparently did the same with the cameras on their cars. At this point, it’s safer to assume that they’re always recording your private life.

Well, China makes the Meta Ray-Bans anyway so this sounds like a win/win for them.

This should be right next to the recent article about humans not being able to do 2 things at once. I feel like I will see videos from glasses being used as evidence, for the wrecks they caused.

at this point id rather send my data to china than THIS america.. China wont show up at ur door…America will

    15. We ban smart glasses in our workplace due to the privacy concerns, especially with Chinese glasses

    16. Torn because I generally hate the idea of these, but love watching Meta get fucked.

    17. Backup cameras and sensors becoming standard features.

Similar reason why more people talk via speaker or watch their smartphones with the volume up out in public. Phones removed the headphone jack along with the included wire headphones and ear buds aren’t as cheap or reliable, so more people just use speaker audio out in public.

    18. Idk why should I wear a recorder on my face, but if it can be use like a screen then I might want one.

    19. I think the idea of having a camera on something like a snowboarding goggle or something is neat but I don’t like the idea of normal looking glasses having them.

    20. After the fiasco with backdoors in unitree robots I’d be very uncomfortable walking around with a Chinese camera equipped device on my face at all times

Did anybody actually read the article… you read through all of that only to find out the author hasn’t seen the glasses or tested in person…. This is absolute crap journalism. We all know many times these types of features don’t work nearly as well in real life as they do in presentations or on paper. I’m not saying they couldn’t be good but it seems like a clickbait headline without any verification.

I see China kicking the ass of all parts of the US. It is not even close. USA is busy sprinting backwards, being intensely racist, and bankrupting the country. Oh, and committing war crimes around the planet.

China won. Game over. USA got a DNF.

    23. I have this tech now and Meta/Ray-Ban glasses are a joke compared to what I have on-hand called INMO Air 3, Google Gemini and Lens, YouTube, and Camera functionality is all there. Only needs some fine-tuning with heat desipation and other minor things such as battery life improvement, I use a small battery bank and the unit will last 7-11 hours. However puting them on is truly like living in the future now and it can only get better from here, like Wow!!

    24. GotSomeUpdogOnUrFace on

These fucking things should be illegal or should be required to have a trigger word to shut them down. Basically if someone is standing in front of you looking at you while wearing these fucking glasses there needs to be a command that I can say that immediately cuts their transmission because I am not giving them permission to fucking film and whatever else they’re doing.

    25. SmurfRiding on

Ray-bans are notorious for price gouging. Ray-bans sell a pair of plastic frames (no lenses included) for £80 while the off-market will sell a similar pair of plastic frames for £15.

Glasses that tell me when to drink water. Get fucked.

Get back to me when these glasses can lead me through repairs.
