    1. The Shokunin mindset and culture in effect. Same for watches, whiskey, coffee, stationary, bags, clothes, etc… The bad aspects of work culture get most of the press but the quality of goods and food here is quite high compared to most other places.

      That’s all nice but tbh in my area it’s still not as affordable as back home. I’d prefer a generally good pizza for an affordable price over „the best in the world“ 

      Not to diminish their achievement, it is great, and they should be proud. However I wanna eat Pizza whenever I feel like it, not when I saved up enough cash.

      FFS, come on. Pizza in Japan can be terrible for the price, absolute rip off. New York pizza or San Fran is a different level.

      I went to most of these including the mandarin.
      They are good.
      But roccos man…
      Roccos made me cry

      These guys struggle to replicate imported foods stuffs without bastardizing it, but Japan’s and particular Tokyo’s pizza game is fucking solid. And said pizza places are also doing pasta and antipasti relatively well too, although these are more hit and miss.
