    1. Oh good AI is going to start a eugenics program through dating apps.

Good luck, Alphas because life is going to be weird.

lolololol. Bumble. Another horrible predatory dating app thats just trying new predatory ways,….

    3. Bumble, the app where women were supposed to send the first message and the company had to remove the feature because they actually didn’t start any convo? lolz

So now AI will predict who you will trauma bond with, have a disastrous rollercoaster of anxious-avoidant co-triggering, break up and get back with three times before finally moving to another state and finding a therapist for 6 months before starting the whole thing all over?

Sounds like swiping with more steps

    5. This is literally just going to devolve to the plot of Hang the DJ and not in a good way. We are living in an endless episode of Black Mirror, anyways.

    6. I’ve done well for myself on hinge, tinder is okay, but bumble has literally never once led to a date for me. It’s a horrible app

Realistically the AI will decide who you won’t be compatible with and make you pay extra for women you’d be into so that you get stuck on the app

How about not trying to set us up with people that won’t date us for some reason we put on our profile. Ie age height religion etc.

I’ve tried most of the (straight) apps and Bumble got me literally zero traction: no matches as a paid user for a full month. I canceled it (and most others) after a one-month trial. The one that I still use (which is awesome) is Feeld. Never met a bot there, only got cat-fished once in 2 years, I’ve met literally DOZENS of women from the app. Bumble was a big nothing-burger filled with people who are scared to be alone but also too timid to meet a stranger.

I love how people think swiping left or right is somehow different than clicking a check or an x. It honestly the funniest thing to me.

Everyday I read some article about new ways they’re going to implement AI and it’s always an incredibly stupid move. This is hilarious

    12. I can’t imagine subjecting myself to the horrors of dating apps. It seriously is the most miserable experience if you’re not a 10/10, for both sides, and even then it’s mostly shallow hookups.

Doesn’t matter. Dating apps have been useless for how many years now?  Her own app had to remove the main feature because one of the population only wants to feed their egos and link you to their OF.

Are they going to address the issue for those of us who live in big cities (Chicago) where a majority of the profiles you see are people *visiting* your location and don’t actually live there?

The #1 advantage of Hinge over Bumble is that you have to indicate where you live, and you can specify that you only want to see people who *live* in that area. It’s not this stupid real-time location BS that Bumble has, and others

Does anyone else remember when OKCupid let you suggest edits for other people’s profiles for them? That was the best

The swipe feature definitely needs to go. I don’t know that AI will necessarily be better, but it definitely has potential to connect people more efficiently and accurately.

Dating apps tend to try and figure out how to keep people on a pay leash though, so I’m not going to get my hopes up this will do any thing to enhance online dating.

    17. I wonder how viable a lawsuit would be that these apps are essentially using us as the product. Like if I was an attractive person using this app trying to find a partner and I found out that they were paywalling all my potential matches, solely because I’m viewed as a higher quality match than others on the app, how is that allowed? I know that the USA is in an era of all-time low accountability but it’s surprising that this is still such a lawless area.

I’ve never tried hinge, had quite a lot of matches on both tinder and bumble, but qualitatively bumble’s were way better if you actually wanted to meet a person with character as opposed to a quick lay

    19. I’m just waiting for the class action suits since thousands and thousands of people have been banned from the app for no reason right after paying for a subscription with no explanation of why they were banned. If there is any class action lawyers out there, this is a slam dunk.

It’s wild. I started dating my wife in 2010, right before the apps completely changed the dating scene. Feels like I was on the last chopper out of ‘Nam lol.

„We noticed our sales are heavily down this year, so we’ve got an idea“

„Ah! You’re going to decrease the prices of your premium features so people can afford to use the app? Excellent id-“

      „No we’re gonna use AI.“

    22. SlimyAmeboid on

Why do people still use dating apps? They are literally designed to keep their users on their platform for as long as they can. Giving them good matches is the antithesis of their business models because if people actually got matched up with people who were compatible then why would they stay on the platform?

    23. My now wife and I actually met on bumble. We were going to the same college but we weren’t dating until she messaged me on bumble. Anyway, we matched in 2019 so luckily that was before the AI tsunami. I have not been back on a dating app since of course but I imagine it’s much different now.

    24. Hate bumble. Have had about 5 people swipe on me. For months I’ve been trying to find them by swiping on everyone for my limit to max. First few days I was like that’s annoying. Then after a week I decided to swipe on everyone. Neverrrr getting those matches haha

Do people still do online dating?  I tried it about ten years ago and I had very bad results.
