      You might be surprised OP, there were more routes added than that 20+ years ago.

    9. Here’s a fun fact: on average, there is between 12,000 and 14,000 flights in the air at any one time, although that varies a bit more depending on the time of day.

    11. Most of these are low capacity narrow-body planes so in terms of actual passenger capacity, it’s not as big as you’d think.
