Xi is not betting on a loser. As of May 2026, the decision by Chinese President Xi Jinping to skip major events in Moscow, such as the May 9th Victory Day parade, serves as a powerful indicator that the Russia-Ukraine war is not delivering the quick, decisive victory initially anticipated by Beijing, signaling a strained partnership.
While China has provided an economic lifeline to Russia, Xi’s absence signifies a calculated move to distance himself from a conflict that has become a „bad bet“ and a „nightmare“ for his global standing.

    5. Not even Aliyev came this year, for obvious reasons (no bueno to shoot civilian airliners and barely apologize).

Look at Aliyev in the top picture btw, he looks pretty much the same, only with darker hair.

    6. Well, the comparison is somewhat flawed. Even if Western politicians were absent today, 2005 would still have been a significant anniversary…

Putin does not care, none of the world leaders in the first picture are still in power (I assume, correct me), yet he is. That’s the main goal and he is successful at it.

    8. Yea Putin spilled all his marbles within a decade and never looked back. Sad cringe.

    9. Well sure, the head count is down…

But look how big those hats are! They are obviously winning where it counts.

I thought it would be fun if we all went around and said our name and a little something about ourselves. I’ll start. My name is Vladimir and I like to party. Alright. Dave, you’re up.

    11. OK, but the number of really big hats has gone from 0 to 4 and that has to count for something.

Oh, and medals, infinity more fancy medals.

    12. Managed to push a whole country, Hungary , in the opposite direction too. Putins more of a loser then we ever could of believed
