    1. We are attempting to survive as an economy against a hostile economy a dozen times larger than us while already having excellent green electricity generation.

Maybe we need to do what we need to do.

      Key passage from the piece

Friday’s announcement on streamlining infrastructure project approvals is a further indication the party is moving to the right, further than anything Liberals have seen, and a giant call to action to all Canadians who care about the environment.
“It’s shocking,” Anna Johnston, a staff lawyer at West Coast Environmental Law, told the Star. “This would represent by far the worst evisceration of environmental law in Canadian history, far worse than what happened under Prime Minister (Stephen) Harper’s government in 2012.”
“It’s worse than what Harper did, I agree,” said Steven Guilbeault, the Liberal MP and former environment minister. “This goes beyond what Harper proposed when he was in power, yes, that’s true.”

    3. If they gave a fuck about the environment. You’d be allowed to WFH.

Its not a real priority, so you have suffer through traffic to do a job you can do at home because it makes some of their friends a profit.

      Everything else is theater.

These hit pieces are now getting tiring to read, nothing but partisan sniping which aren’t really going to win anyone over. Most people are currently a bit more worried about the economy, but I get why some of the folks are upset. ESP the block, delay, and obstruct activist / advocacy complex will definitely not be able to do so effectively anymore.

We need a government who is willing to build things. Resource projects, industrial capacity, major infrastructure, housing. There are so many Canadians who are simply anti-development it drives me crazy.

This would have been the moment for a “bright green” (not eco-socialist) Green Party but they destroyed their credibility and momentum over (checks notes) the Middle East conflict.

Carney’s Liberals are a conservative party.

When the Bloc is the leftmost federal party with party status, the situation is dire.

In Québec, outside of 2-3 ridings (if I’m generous) for the NDP, the Bloc is the only viable option against the red conservatives and the blue conservatives.

Interestingly, Guilbeault is in one of the top 3 ridings in Québec for the federal NDP. Even though the NDP finished 2nd, more than 30% behind the Liberals last year, they may pick it up under the right conditions if Guilbeault resigns. Alternatively, Guilbeault may cross the floor to the Bloc or to the Greens if he is that disillusioned with the LPC.

I suspect Carney only tolerates him because the LPC is not far over the line for a majority (and because we have strong party lines). Guilbeault sure makes strong exits criticizing his government.

Carney himself is the reason why the Liberals are doing so well right now. If they did not have Carney the Liberals would be in a very different situation. I think Carney has the political capital to ram this through regardless of the critics within his own caucus. He can simply say he won’t sign their nomination papers and they’ll fall back into line.
