Many Japanese feel uncomfortable when living next to dead bodies in the ground. So the place has to be somewhat far enough from residential zones. Probably an abandoned plot of land in an industrial zone would do.

  2. There’s plenty of space outside of metro Tokyo… many cemeteries in Korea are in the northern, less populated areas as well.

Japan could repurpose its bike parking garage technology to accommodate Muslims who don’t want to adapt.
If you want body storage you have to buy a body storage facility slot (that should eliminate a large % to start with). Bonus is you can retrieve them any time you like for family or religious occasions as well.
Freeze dry them and vacuum packed for long term storage. Japanese innovation. Also don’t forget the monthly storage fee.

Btw, cremation should be standard across the planet.

The only way burial would be possible in Japan is if they did something like Singapore where bodies are dug up after a certain amount of time.

Idk, I see plenty of mountains and large areas scattered around, unused. Not saying they should allow or not, just mentioning that this “there’s no space thing” is quite relative.

Hm, reading about this, it does say that cremation is definitely haram.

Presumably this has something to do with resurrection of the original body in the future? A process that probably takes longer when most of the body has gone up in smoke, and must be carefully retrieved.

I wonder though, would volcanic burial still satisfy the requirements for burial, whilst simultaneously requiring less space, be more eco, and reduce the risk of groundwater contamination?

Japan will increasingly need immigration to keep functioning, and as such needs to put some water in its wine for a lot of things concerning a lot of things and prepare itself for cohabitation with more and more immigrants.

That said, whether it’s for Islam or other religions usually practicing burial of (non cremated) bodies, I think this is definitely a point where given the topological situation of Japan, immigrants do have 100% to adapt.

Whether it’s for housing or agriculture etc, Japan already struggles with exploitable land surface so if the local communities say they can’t accommodate, it’s not ONLY out of xenophobia this time.

  9. Many people say something about culture Yada Yada Yada

FYI burial is more common on Japan than you think, and cremation only gone popular post WW2
