Absolutely nothing will be done about this, AI companies seem to get away with literally everything across the planet pushing stuff on us that absolutely nobody asked for but still being told that it’s good for us.

Okay, then do something about it?

Or is this just going to be another strongly worded statement about privacy and data sovereignty?

Canada is too small to have any meaningful impact on anything related to AI. We can build some data centers maybe. Outside of that it’s either don’t use it, or get out of the way.

  4. Well Canadian privacy laws need to be updated to 2026.

The Internet is something you can’t control.

  5. Not a fan of this but I also just find AI too helpful in my ordinary day to day use to put it down.

  6. Cool, sue them and lose. But make sure you put in millions to make it as publicly broadcasted as possible

AI models most probably violated a ton of laws accross the entire world.

  8. Ah yes, Open AI, the company that *didn’t* object to mass surveillance and autonomous weapons and is consequently current darling of the Pentagon. Lovely.

So then who’s going to jail? Who’s getting fined? Or this more of our billionaire overlords ignoring laws and getting away with it?

This is the type of stuff I get downvoted for. The Canadian governments can’t do anything to a business that operates outside its borders.
People have a hard time understanding this point. A simple VPN can get around any blocks you have.
The only solution is Canada gets onboard this Ai train. Globally we need a solution with the input of all countries.

Redditors are gonna be in for a world of shock for what’s to come. The view of the world going to school, getting a job, having a kid, working 40 years and retiring is going away. Governments are slowly losing power to corporations Ai is just going expedite this.

All I hear on Reddit is it’s just hype, it’s going no where. But over the next year or so this will be the defining issue globally. People here will have to accept what is to come and as it’s going to be the largest defining moment. How we navigate this transition is a global discussion not a Canadian only discussion.

Regarding privacy these companies have the view that all data is fair game. Nothing will be done about it. If it’s on the Internet it’s fair game and by the time the government even gets around to it it’ll be inside its system.

Ai systems are grown not built. We still don’t understand how they truly function and why they do some of the things they do.

  11. Isn’t it time for independent tech instead of relying on US tech that leaks, steals, and violates privacy all the time? Many European and Asian countries have developed their own social media. And time and again, Americans claim that Chinese cars will spy on you…

  12. Lemme guess, nothing is going to happen because the rich are never held accountable for their actions? Rules for thee but not for me. I’m so fucking tired of this shit.
