The fun thing about that map is that the green part is neither city boundaries or county boundaries.

As a life long engineer, I used to love and respect silicon valley. Now I hate it. Crooked and destructive as hell.
Edit: to elaborate, they have collectively destroyed privacy and democracy in America. Destroyed affordability in the Bay area. All that good will? Sold to the highest bidder.
Now they are actively focused on destroying the economy, environment and labor with AI slop. Fuck Silicon Valley.
They used to be innovators. They used to empower people. Now they are thieves and robber barons.

This isn’t a map of a valley

Is San Jose considered part of Silicon Valley? I always thought it was just the suburbs between SF and SJ.

The map left off Los Gatos (Netflix), Campbell (Chargepoint, Barracuda), and Monte Sereno, all of which are within the green shaded area.

What’s that little nub going into the bay lol

I will never understand how this is supposedly one of the major global centres of innovation and futurism, and yet just feels like a giant 70s car-centric snoozefest suburb cum industrial estate.

Curious if this is the highest GDP per capita area in the entire United States? It’s gotta be either Silicon Valley or Manhattan.
The bay area – San Francisco, San Jose, and their suburbs – has a larger GDP than many [much larger metro areas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_metropolitan_areas_by_GDP) (such as Chicago, DFW and Houston). Of course, the cost of living is also very, very high.
