    Both made valid points.

However, the bigger issue is RTE inviting boy George on as a guest

  2. >Holocaust Awareness Ireland – which is a group founded by the son of a Holocaust survivor, said that Kielty had shown a “singular lack of empathy when speaking about Jews”, and posited the question of whether Kielty had been “corrupted” by the “RTÉ hive mind where the narrative around the issue of Israel and Jews is disturbingly unbalanced?”.

RTÉ, in a statement issued today, put forward that Kielty had said that the attacks took place against the backdrop of the horrors in Gaza, but at no point did he say “that there was any justification for the attacks whatsoever”.

WTF type of accusataion is that? The RTE ‚hive mind‘ ????

He differentiated between Israel and Jews as a whole. You can hate one but also like the other.

BAsed not he Boy George quotes, i am almost annoyed for the first time ever, that i didnt watch a late late show interview. It read as very …… old scholl Gay Byrne typa stuff.

Very well handeled on host and guest imho.

Are they similarly vocal about the absolute disgusting behaviour of the Jews in Israel. I doubt it

I’d the unfortunate experience of opening a thread of yer man George on twitter and just absolute unhinged nonsense, how he sits and in any way clings to any ‚Irish‘ in himself is almost laughable.

Of course, The Journal fails to mention that three people were attacked that day, not just the two Jewish men. The third victim was Muslim. But I suppose the facts need to be amended to fit the narrative.

Even the BBC sometimes mentions the 3rd victim. [https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3r2lr434wlo](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c3r2lr434wlo)

    > He went on to say that he knows lots of amazing Jewish people, and said “if you don’t know any Jewish people maybe that’s the problem”, and then turned to the audience and said “do you know any Jewish people?”.

Isn’t there only like 6000 jews in Ireland total?

  8. You mean Boy George who handcuffed a male escort to a wall and then beat him with a chain? The victim barely escapes nearly naked and boy george served 4 months in prison. How Boy George is still allowed be in front of a camera is a disgrace! Shame on RTE for having this disgusting animal anywhere near a studio.

The boy who cried wolf. Anti semitism has lost all meaning literally to the extent where people even question what this „semitism“ even is

I mean Boy George did handcuff a male escort to a wall and beat him with a chain so he shouldn’t be any where near our screens.

I had to go watch the video and what are they on about? Seems like a set up to promote BG after he was criticized for signing that ridiculous letter.

    For those who missed it:

There were *three* victims in the Golders Green attack. The first victim is Muslim, the other 2 are Jewish.

Sorry. Hang on. The guy who handcuffed a sex worker to a radiator and beat him with a bicycle chain was on the late late. Why? Empathy… yes, do tell.

This all makes me so sad.

Irish and Jewish people used to share in being everyone’s punching bags.

  15. Someone should start a Palestinian Genocide Awareness Group to counter this insane bullshit.

  16. Justread-5057 on

It’s a lack nuance for sure. Being forced to one side is never an answer. Boy George was expressing his feelings which is always welcome but Israel is committing the g word.

Holocaust Awareness Ireland is a one man operation (Oliver Sears) who isn’t even irish. He was born in London. He even describes himself as „non-Irish Jewish person living in Ireland“.

He is very much outspoken on Irish politicians across the board criticizing Israel. This needs to be taken into consideration when reading this.

  18. Doggylife1379 on

I’ll get downvoted for this, but people on this sub aren’t getting the point.

Bringing up Israel when talking about jews getting stabbing in London is ridiculous and does show a complete lack of empathy.

Everyone is talking about conflating Jews with Israel is obviously right, but also completely irrelevant. You don’t stab Jews whether they support Israel or not. Just like we don’t stab any other group for who they support or not.

  19. The comments here are not surprising. Jews in Ireland and abroad have been raising fears of rising antisemitism for years now and people here are always quick to dismiss them.

Would r/ireland be as equally dismissive of any other minority raising these fears?

  20. Attention_WhoreH3 on

by equating Zionism with Judaism, Boy George himself is being anti-Jewish

And so too are the lobby groups, many of whom are funded by Tel Aviv

  21. ghostofgralton on

Very happy that RTÉ responded robustly in Kielty’s defence. This sort of nonsence needs to be shut down

  22. It seems like there a tonne of these groups around the world just waiting to tell a journalist how offended they are at the mere mention of Judaism. Unless everyone tows the Israeli government line youre an anti semite .Its exhausting

  23. Sweet_Ad_6572 on

Was there not a Muslim man stabbed as well? Or is that just Twitter gossip? Seems like a big thing to omit when talking about the story. Obviously it’s horrendous and Jewish people in England are rightly feeling fearful at the minute.

  24. In_Their_Youth on

No mention of the third man who was stabbed in the incident. Stabbed first, actually. Doesn’t suit the narrative.
