      Cruises are horrible for the environment. Nothing like traveling to a beautiful location on a vessel actively destroying it.

      I’ve never understood the allure of going on a cruise for the sake of just being on a big ship (as opposed to destination cruises like seeing glaciers in Alaska), so I finally went on one. There is literally *nothing* that can’t be enjoyed just as much by visiting a city somewhere, and you’re not trapped in a vessel in the middle of the ocean with the potential of an outbreak like this. I truly can’t understand why so many people continue to go on these cruises.

      folks if you are ever finding yourself cleaning mouse droppings, wet it first with a spray bottle of bleach before sweeping or cleaning it up

      hantavirus is surprisingly rare but is absolutely deadly and progresses very fast especially in a situation like this

      my heart goes out to the families

      The Hantavirus and Bubonic plague. Anything that is spread around by rodents really freaks me out. I couldn’t imagine paying for a nice vacation and it ending like this.

      I personally think cruise ships are big petri dishes..that poor old couple who died on this ship! This hanta virus is what the actor Gene Hackman’s wife died from in her home, was googling flu symptoms before she died.

      Hanta has like a 40% CFR. If this is from the HVAC system it could be a mass casualty event
