What happened was that Carney’s temporary removal of the excise tax was effectively undone by the price increase in summer gas. Also, didn’t remove either the industrial carbon tax nor the „Clean Fuel Standard“

Then again, I’m not surprised. Carney never TRULY had an interest in making fuel affordable because he only „set“ the consumer tax to zero rather than axe it entirely out of existence. Why would he keep the legislation in place if he REALLY wanted to remove the tax?

Look up the term „Potemkin“ and you’ll know what I mean

    2. Prices ramping up is bad news for consumers and will be particularly painful for rural and lower income Canadians.

But if you think this is bad, imagine what could happen if the US one day decides to cut off supply to ON and QC….we are utterly reliant on them and need to start acting and planning much more strategically when it comes to feeding, fueling and protecting ourselves.

Build stuff. Now! No more placating, start wielding the biggest levers you got and get things moving. I don’t care where the energy comes just start bringing more online at the quickest pace possible.

      Tax the oil companies.

Put a price cap on petrol prices. They shouldn’t be allowed to profit off of decisions the politicians they have access to make. They should have told Donny Dumbfuck that going to war with Iran is a horrible idea, and if they can’t control their politicians, then they should suffer like everyone else.

Until war over oil isn’t profitable, the oil companies will continue to use wars as justification for ripping us off.
