The problem with this move is that Russia, the greatest threat to Europe, had been removed. Trump might be planning this to “punish” Germany to get some concessions, but it seems like it is backfiring.
Even if Trump removed all troops from Germany, Germany wouldn’t be deterred as Ukraine and Poland will be enough to protect Western Europe.
Trump had removed all fundings to Ukraine for a year, and Ukraine had held the line – showing that Ukraine is a capable force and European assistance is enough. With no Russian threat looming, Germany didn’t need America like 10 years ago.
And notice that Trump NEVER talked about closing American bases in Germany. Despite his talks he knew that American bases in Germany is very important for American presence in the Middle East. Notice that nearly all US logistics flights to ME are originated from Germany.
Of course, since a 5K troop withdrawal got a big ho-hum, the boy king will raise the number higher.

This is how I know there isn’t actually some super secret ultra rich cabal „pulling the strings“ behind the scenes. With the damage this one man has seemingly done to world economies multiple times with his stupid fucking decisions, his plane would’ve magically dropped out of the sky ages ago.
