switching from total pop % to pop % of province is a little unituitive. I did a double take because I knew the latter two weren’t bigger than the former but %s are something that jumps out

Idk why people love to through „people live in cities“ at maps like this, which clearly intend to show _where_ said cities are concentrated.

We all know the blue population is Americans.
Edit: JFC guys, it’s a joke. I’m sorry Alberta and the Western US aren’t as cool with each other like we are in [NY:Ottawa/Quebec](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMbsvYDlQIY). I think it’s mostly non-Canadians or people without context not getting the joke. I’ll tell you what, we give Alberta to the US and Canada can take NY, CT, RI, Mass, NH, VT and Maine.

Poor Winnipeg, didn’t make the cut.

I think the total for the red region is low. There’s over 24 million people in Ontario and Québec and I doubt more than 2-3 million live outside the red area.

If you live outside these major population centres in Canada it can feel like you are forgotten by the world.

It is not unusual to have half the population clustered in one area, many countries have that. But in Canada’s case the unpopulated areas are just extremely big. Of course climate is a big factor – Iceland has 2/3 of the population in one tiny area and the rest is nearly empty.

Not sure why this map doesn’t show Winnipeg as it’s around 65% of the entire province in one city….

And the leader of the opposition is against building high speed rail in the Quebec City to Windsor corridor…

Brilliant map. It goes to show how we could justify high speed rail in regional corridors at the very least.
Then if we get really adventurous (but it shouldn’t be considered adventurous in a well functioning society), we could connect between these regions with high speed rail with only stops between these major centres at first.

18 million- nearly 50%.
Population of Canada >36 million.
18+3+3.2 million = 24.2 million
Population of Canada 24.2/0.7=34.571 million
Wikipedia: population of Canada is 41.5 million.
Actual percentage 24.2/41.5=0,583=58%
