      That’s just the amount they recycle to give them new posts. It’s basically one district so locally they will feel the loss in local revenue but often bases import goods from the USA

      These people are shooting themselves in the face. Germany doesn’t need the United States to protect them. The United States needs Germany as a base to support military operations abroad. Trump and hegseth can’t understand basic ideas of military operations.

      Our global influence will shrink and I think that’s probably good for everybody but the US.

      This is so much worse for the US than Germany. Yet another wealthy country who will purposely avoid buying American products for years. Destroying free market opportunities for US businesses is not “winning”.

      There are substitute products out there.

      sometime before taco Tuesday im sure someone in the military will explain to them that Germany is doing them a favour by allowing US troops and not the other way around.

      Europe is finally getting a chance to grow and become competely independent in tech, security, energy, consumer products and services.

      It is good for Europe, long term.

      I’m German and I don’t care. Ever since the end of the Cold War, our country has been of more use to them for their bases and drone command centres than they have been of use to us. I don’t mind US forces being here and I want our international relationship to normalise once this circus of an administration is gone, but withdrawing those troops is most definitely not a sign of strength and instead yet another thing that will put further strain on our relationship, further proof that the US is not a reliable ally and that we Europeans need to be more independent, both economically and militarily.
