I’m curious about the official loses of Israeli armored vehicles. The Merkava, and Namer are both very hardy and robust platforms that can survive hits but there have been a few FPV and ATGM strikes that be seriously damaged and or knocked out Merkavas/Namers.

How? Last image was about hitting the cope cage..
What was the charge?
Also – I have no idea where Merkavas have their ammunition and I’m not going to google it.
Still kinda fishy, judging from the video.

Has there been an uptick in drone strikes recently?
Looks like somebody got a donation of fiber optic drones…

Fire towards the back of the turrets, probably ammo storage going off through the blowout panels. If they did not have the bunker doors open in that moment, the crew is probably fine. And the tank can still roll back to base.

Blowout panels or ammo cookout? Seems like the latter but i’m mo expert

I’m surprised the tank caught fire; the drone clearly struck the protective steel cage, and the jet of molten metal must have travelled at least two metres from there to the tank’s armour.

There’s literally no chance a drone hitting the cage is going to penetrate the armor. Something else is burning off.

They are getting better at this.. a video bascially everyday or so. The longer the war goes on there, the more damage to the attacking forces current operations. Just like in Ukraine. FPV Fibre drones also getting increased range.
I remember when the so-called SMO started in Ukraine. It was tanks and APCs getting blown up and now it’s mainly Infantry.

Tank is fine lol, this looks like fuel burning versus what we know happens to Russian tanks

And once again… Israel goes to war against Hezbollah, allowing them to gain more combat experience and upgrade to new weapons.

Curious to know which Merkava variant was that? MK3?
Also it looks like Hezbollah is starting to adapt FPVs

So, I am bit skeptical. I am not an expert by any means, but a couple of things jump to mind and I am trying to question myself several scenarios.
First off, these videos rarely show the full aftermath. To be fair, this is in an almost insurgency environment where the people recording probably have to get out quickly.
The drone goes for contact: It’s not dropping a bomb, or a shaped charge unto the tank from a perpendicular angle. It also hits the cage, *at* an angle, which means even if it has a shaped charge, the jet stream will hit the tank *at* an angle, which can affect how the jet stream penetrates the armor. Doesn’t mean it’s not deadly, but it is also not ideal.
One *possible* explanation is that what is actually cooking is the ammunition box of the top machinegun (the fireball is happening around the area where the Mg is located). Most of the ammo cookoffs I’ve seen are far bigger explosions and less incendiary like the one in this video.
Of course, it is also possible that the tank was penetrated and killed, too. The angle and duration doesn’t do it any favors to confirm, unfortunately

The slow drone penetrates the APS.
