  1. Tell me you are a useless controlled opposition party without telling me you are a controlled opposition party…

They aren’t going to tell you what went wrong because they plan to keep doing it.

    Hard pass lmfao.

Bet it would involve admitting that their stance on Israel is unpopular, among other things.

  5. Comprehensive_Tie431 on

It was the lack of a primary. Joe Biden said he was going to complete one term and pass the baton, but he chose to run a second time. Biden’s decision to run for reelection cost the Democrats the election.

If the Democrats had a healthy primary, I believe they would’ve triumphed over Trump.

I just listened to Pod Save America where they talked about this and I was yelling at him uselessly. They didn’t release the report because they don’t want us “looking backward” and “pointing fingers” and “looking for a smoking gun” or a “silver bullet”. Instead they’re releasing “lessons”, which he also described as an “executive summary”, but an executive summary is a formal document typically released *along with* the longer document. They have not even released that, just apparently shorter stuff released to particular people? If these lessons are valid conclusions I don’t see why they don’t release all the data the conclusions are based upon instead of handwaving and saying “trust us”. Why does he think he should be able to tell is what to conclude without even seeing the evidence instead of reviewing it ourselves? The question this prompts for me is, what’s in there that would be harmful to DNC leadership if it got out, and why aren’t they willing to do what’s necessary to address the problem transparently?

On pod save America they grilled a rep from the dnc and he said “we’ve shared the findings with key donors, consultants and activists” and that right there is the problem.

  8. It’s worth listening to Pod Save America’s interview with Ken Martin on this. I knew the DNC was a bit slimey, but Christ this dude is a tapeworm. I’ve never been more turned off, and the Dems are fucked if they let someone like this control the party.

  9. Here is my autopsy.
    1. Merrick Garland waited too long to appoint a special prosecutor. This will go down as the biggest legal blunder in the history of America and maybe western civilization.
    2. Biden should have never run for a second term.
    3. There should have been a real primary if Biden ran.
    4. Biden waited too long to drop out.
    5. America didn’t get to choose a Democrat candidate.
    5. Kamala was a bad candidate.
    6. The campaign was run poorly.
    7. The down ballot races didn’t inspire turnout.

    Edit to include:

    9. A poor VP choice, especially when considering other options.

  10. Listen, I’m frustrated with the Democratic party and all, but the person that wrote this article is stupid. This is an actual quote from the article.

    >You can bet that the leaders of the party, and the people they listen to — talking heads on CNN and MSNBC — are going to want to steer the candidates toward Kamala-style woke progressivism. It’s an agenda that excites college professors and no one else.

Yes, they apparently believe Kamala lost because she was too much of a „woke progressive“. The author writes for a libertarian magazine.

  11. They don’t want to release it because it will name Israel as a main issue and the dnc doesn’t want to face that fact

  12. Marionberry_Bellini on

Every day it becomes more clear that the Democratic Party would rather lose over and over than make the necessary changes to be popular again.  Absolutely pathetic.

  13. vishaka-lagna on

I want to see how the DNC spent $1.5B in 15 weeks while staffers kept coming to media to discuss the lack of outreach and how Pennsylvania was a mess. I wonder if that’s a part of the autopsy. I’m keeping my donations to local races only.

  14. SovietPropagandist on

Did you know that r/democrats still won’t let you mention Mamdani? They’ll remove your comment and ban you. They literally block any discussion of democratic socialism even when the mayor of the largest city in the country won a landslide victory as a democratic socialist.

  15. Constant_Flamingo828 on

It’s guys like this that cause the Dems to lose so bad. The upper echelon of the party is highly paid consultants that only care about data and spamming fundraising emails.

  16. Vote Blue no matter who…unless it’s a soc dem like the wildly popular and effective Mamdani! Can’t support a real left wing candidate. The DNC is just RNC is sheep’s clothing

  17. Bakedfresh420 on

What a trash article. The Dems have been moderating policy after policy after policy they don’t need to moderate more, and “jettison wokeness” is right-wing code for abandon minorities.

  18. Harris got absolutely no love when running in 2020. People just flat out were not interested in her being president.

So the fact she lost in 2024 after doing nothing of note as VP and being basically invisible shouldn’t surprise anyone

  19. drethnudrib on

They’re latched firmly to the billionaire teat, and they’re happy to be controlled opposition as long as they make their money.

  20. They won’t release it because they aren’t willing to make the necessary changes required. Bribery has fucked up our government.

  21. Plastic_Key_4146 on

He’s literally proving he’s not learning the lessons!! How can he have people focus on the right lessons, when he’s not learning any lessons!

WE DON’T TRUST YOU! Learn that lesson Mr. Martin. You need to earn the voters of trust. David Hogg might be cringe, but he at least appears to be genuine.

I watched you campaign for DNC chair, and you promised you wouldn’t do any of this. You sound like one of them.

Forward not back. That’s JD’s line! Forward not back, that’s why Jefferson Davis walked away with his head held high. Forward not back, that’s why Dubya is painting.

This is exactly what lost ’16 and ’24. Back state parties; endorse and back Mamdani, Platner, and Talarico; and release the report. Corporatists cannot win, only FDR can.

  22. padizzledonk on

That interview on PSA was absolutely brutal lol

And i agree with the other comment that is was a 100% because of her stance on Israel and how Biden and her handled Gaza

If it was literally ANYTHING else they would have no problem releasing it

The finny thing is that we all collectively know it, and hiding it isnt going to change how absolutely fucking rabid we all are, left, right and independent, for that relationship and support to end

  23. bluepillarmy on

I can give you the autopsy in one sentence:

“Turns out voters are turned off by candidates who look and sound like HR managers.”

  24. Quentin-Quarantino19 on

The most unpopular issues are those that their donors are interested in.

If they release the findings, the obvious requirement would involve a shift in policy on issues the donors don’t want to be meddled with.

  25. Here’s the autopsy.

Biden should have kept his most important campaign promise and been a 1 term President. We would have had a real primary and we very likely would not be here today.

  26. siskyouthrowaway on

I’ve felt for a long time that Dems only selling point was: „hey, at least we’re not as bad as the Republicans!“

You _have_ to give people solid reasons to vote _for_ you, as in here is what we will do to make your lives better; not just „we will not do the things the Republicans are doing“.

We desperately need a third party. I’m so over both parties.

  27. Pizza1234pizza on

The Pod Save America interview was the most condescending and infuriating response from the DNC. He kept framing this “don’t look back, look forward” nonsense as a false dichotomy as though we can’t do both. He also kept calling Jon obsessed for asking questions about releasing the report. It was exactly the bullshit politics people have come to hate.

As a life-long democrat, it made me dislike the DNC more than before the interview. The DNC doesn’t have the voters’ trust and Ken Martin is saying “just trust us, we DNC leaders know the lessons—take our word for it.” No. Absolutely not. I want transparency. I don’t owe them trust.

Man that interview made me mad. Ken Martin can fuck off. Just horrible, horrible leadership decision to present their case like that.

  28. StockRestaurant4795 on

They don’t want to admit they were wrong about gender ideology, pronouns, Hilary/Kamala, pushing Bernie out, catering to their billionaire donors. Basically everything that they are is what’s wrong with the Democratic party and why no one bothered to vote for them, which is why Trump won again.
