Im betting (without reading the article) that the surge in viewership is not because he made the joke, but because of Maga media hysteria driving attention to it.

Really thought it would have been that horrible woman w/ the equine-features Laura Ingraham.

The groan was reality setting in that their entire platform is being rejected exponentially and they have to face the consequences.

  4. „We gave him wall-to-wall coverage for days, why are people giving him attention?“

Maga: “No one watches late night tv anymore.”

Also Maga: “Late night jokes are dangerous.”

Can’t be making dangerous jokes to empty seats, Jimmy.

he’s so unpopular now. Probably better not to test the limits of power now when they’re at their lowest

I don’t find Kimmel funny, but I love that he gets more views when the nuttters lose their minds.

I hope that he keeps it up.

They are so convinced they’re right about everything they can’t fathom people disagreeing with them. Arrogance and lack of self reflection is a terrible combo for both sides.

  9. That was pretty tame compared to some of quips from British comedians about our government, particularly Frankie Boyle. I guess the current American administration can’t take a joke, because they are a joke.

  10. someone groaned on cable news so now it’s a story. the actual story is that the joke landed and people cared enough to clip it.

Getting harder and harder to spin how many people hate Trump

    Yes, there will be parties

The way this is going Jimmy is gonna have Hasan Piker on. Which they shouldn’t do because he’s so bad that people might learn something and actually start pushing their representatives to do something.

I may be in the minority on Reddit, but I’m just sick and tired of the way people act. Is he allowed to say that joke, sure. Is it in bad taste? Yes. All this does is pull us father apart. I don’t find any of these types of „jokes“ funny no matter who it is directed against. I don’t like it against Trump, Obama, Clinton, Bush, Amanda and West… nobody.

There is most certainly a coordinated campaign to keep all of us divided and judging by everyone’s reactions… its working.

I’m thinking those of us who watch Kimmel (or the other late night hosts) on YouTube find them pretty solid (except Falllon). But those that are up late watching them at 11:30 are not. Cable watchers tend to lean MAGA.

  15. Say what you want about Kimmel, but he at least has the balls to stand up to Trump.

Wtf are people talking about, this has nothing to do with this guy being funny.

This has to do with this guy saying loud and clear the truth!
He is done better journalism that any actual news media!!
I go watch this guy when I want to know what actually happened!!!

  17. The joke was literally days before the assassination attempt. The only reason anyone even knows he made it was Melania trying to use the event to get him fired and Striesanding it

Why do people write “audibly” for words that intrinsically denote sound? I guess people are on the internet groaning, sighing, 0and laughing in their heads?

  19. Threats to wipe out an entire civilization by someone with actual access to the means to do so is ok but the words „expectent widow“ from a late show host are divisive, incendiary, violent, rhetoric. Right. Git tae f*ck, ya bawbags.

  20. Trump benefits, and Kimmel benefits. Just keep staring. Whatever you do, keep staring.

  21. Bebopdavidson on

If they keep trying to cancel him we’re going to end up with Kimmel as the next president

It is not different than the Jada/GIJane drama except Trump is far to floppy to smack back, he has to use the court system to silence anyone that says anything he doesn’t like.

  23. It’s like these bozos never learned the Streisand Effect. But Fox News isn’t the upper echelon of journalism they think they are.

  24. Standards of decency only apply if you’re being rude to the rich and powerful. Punching down is fine. /s

I don’t even have the patience to wait for The Daily Show to put together a highlight reel of all the horrifying comments from Fox News hosts, Republican rally goers, and conservative blowhards.
